Liquor Sellers of Beverly

The Marietta Register, June 1, 1865

The ladies of Beverly are "after" the liquor sellers of that place, a large committee of them having recently visited all the "doggeries," and warned the proprietors to quit selling intoxicating liquors, or the provisions of the law would be enforced against them.  So says the Advertiser, which adds:

"The ladies deserve the thanks of all lovers of peace and good order for their earnestness in this matter, and we sincerely hope that the final result may be the entire banishment of this infernal traffic from our village."
