Elizabeth Bishop was born in Kennebec county, Maine, March 19th, 1797, and is consequently now in her 88th year, but she has just been doing with her own hands a nice job of papering at her residence on Hart stree
t, and says she feels as young as she did 70 years ago but tires out easier. She landed in Marietta in 1813, during the war. At that time it took two months to make the trip but at present a couple of days is sufficient. Of her dozen children and husband, but one remains - Elizabeth, a daughter, who resides with her mother.
