Light System Being Placed

The Marietta Daily Times, December 10, 1924

Front street will shine this year!  Front street will shine!!

Words of a song made popular by the voices of many college youths of the land, thus expresses a condition-to-be on one of Marietta's leading business thoroughfares.  The next ten days will witness transformation of the street into a veritable "white way."

T. M. Jones, superintendent of the Northern Electric Company, arrived Wednesday from Columbus, and immediately put his men to work installing the new Front street lighting system.  Months have elapsed while city officials and property owners and merchants debated the type of lighting for the street.  Now it is to be lighted.

Boring of the steel poles preparatory to the placing of the suspending brackets was in progress Wednesday, wire was being placed, and next week the lamps themselves will go into position.

Front street will be fully and beautifully lighted before the Christmas season.
